This will either make you cry into your wine or start fixing for a baby room.
Turns out your man’s semen could be making you ovulate. Researchers at the University of Saskatchewan have identified a hormone in semen that supposedly prompts the female brain to release hormones that stimulate ovulation.
“It’s a finding that could potentially open up new testing and treatment of infertility in both women and men, and might explain some ‘oops’ babies,” The Star Phoenix says in its report on the study.
The presence of OIF from semen might be enough of a nudge to prompt an ovary to push out an egg on an earlier wave
The not very sexily named ‘ovulation inducing factor’ or OIF is likely the reason women get pregnant when they don’t think they’re ovulating. Professor Gregg Adams says follicles in the ovaries experience waves of activity, and it’s on a third and final wave the ovary spits out an egg. The presence of OIF from semen might be enough of a nudge to prompt an ovary to push out an egg on an earlier wave.
Should make you rethink your rhythm method.
